Deferred-deposit loan rates and fees

The official credit-code text states a 36% APR ceiling for the finance charge on the covered deferred-deposit/payday product. A historical table quoting a large origination charge plus separate recurring maintenance fees should not be treated as an additional entitlement on top of that rule.

This is a product-specific statement. A bank loan, credit-union alternative, open-end account or different installment agreement needs its own classification. Look at the actual creditor and disclosure before applying the payday provision to it.

Monthly repayment example

Hypothetical calculation, not an offer or legal maximum: financing $300 at an assumed 36% APR with six equal monthly payments and no separate fees produces payments of about $55.38. Six rounded payments total approximately $332.28; actual disclosures may adjust the last payment for rounding.

The standard amortization formula uses a monthly rate of 0.36/12. The example is a budgeting comparison only; it does not establish that a particular provider offers this amount or schedule. Compare every due date with income rather than considering the monthly amount alone.

Early payoff and charge refunds

Section 5-3.1-105 also addresses a prorated finance-charge refund when a covered loan is prepaid before maturity. An early payoff request should identify the settlement date and how the charge adjustment was calculated.

Keep the original schedule and the payoff quote together. Adding all remaining scheduled payments is not necessarily the correct settlement calculation. If the lender's figure seems inconsistent, ask for the principal, finance charge, refund and any separate lawful charge to be itemized.

Credit union loan alternatives

Search results include credit-union small-loan products with membership conditions, application charges and several payments. Their own product terms matter; a page calling something a payday alternative does not make it available to everyone in Colorado.

Compare the cash delivered, application costs and total payments across options. A fee paid before disbursement can make the APR or overall cost different from a headline interest rate. Do not copy a competitor's old payday comparison into your own cost estimate.

Colorado lender checks and complaints

The Attorney General's UCCC page explains that the office licenses nonbank lenders and investigates complaints about creditors. Start there for the proper license category and complaint route, using the entity named in your contract.

Save the dated advertisement if it relies on conflicting rates or fees. Read the official Colorado credit-code provisions alongside the regulator's consumer-credit guidance. If a contract cites a different rule, ask the provider to identify the product framework and show the controlling provision.

Payment dates and your budget

Imagine that a roughly $55 payment would fall two days before wages arrive. Even a modest installment can create an overdraft or displace a utility payment if the date is wrong. Put the agreement dates on the same calendar as essential expenses before signing.

If the original expense can be spread directly with the biller, compare that schedule as well. For an existing loan problem, send the agreement, payment record and disputed calculation to the Consumer Credit Unit's official complaint channel.

General borrowing checklist

Confirm availability in Colorado

Ask the lender whether the specific product is available at your address in Colorado. A general loan label or a state-guide page does not establish availability.

Fresh Hope Financial is a loan-request service. Submitting a request does not guarantee an offer, approval or funding.

Compare the complete borrowing cost

Read APR, fees, total repayment and every due date in any actual offer. Do not infer the cost from the name of a product or from a single payment.

Check the repayment arrangement

A payday loan often has one due date, while an installment loan has multiple scheduled payments. Cash advance is a broad label; ask which repayment arrangement the lender means.

Verify the lender’s identity

Identify the lender and check the authorization relevant to the product and your location. State requirements and permitted products can differ; verify the current position before accepting an offer.

Read the form before submitting

Review the consent and privacy information, check what information is requested and ask about credit inquiries and payment collection.

Consider alternatives to borrowing

A payment arrangement, a bank or credit-union option, or trusted personal or community help may be worth exploring. Check the costs and conditions of each option before deciding.

Questions about borrowing in Colorado

May I add old payday origination and maintenance fees to 36%?

Do not use that combined calculation. The cited section sets a 36% APR ceiling for the covered finance charge; old price examples can describe a different historical regime.

Is the six-month example a Fresh Hope loan?

No. It is a hypothetical standard-payment calculation with assumed terms, not verified availability or an offer.

What should I request before paying early?

Ask for a dated payoff quote that shows how the covered finance charge is adjusted, rather than simply adding remaining installments.

Who handles Colorado nonbank consumer-credit complaints?

The Attorney General's Consumer Credit Unit administers the UCCC and identifies licensing and complaint channels.

Does this page confirm that a loan is available in Colorado?

No. Ask the lender about the exact product and your address. This guide explains questions to check; it does not confirm product availability.

Where do I find the actual costs?

Read the amount, APR, fees, total repayment and payment schedule in the lender’s actual offer before deciding.
