Small loans in Indiana for short-term cash needs

Fresh Hope Financial is a loan-request service, not an Indiana lender. No available Indiana product through this site has been verified. The currently posted DFI small-loan guidance describes an $825 ceiling, an income-based limit and repayment protections; those rules do not guarantee eligibility.

Loan limits and monthly income

The posted guidance's two limits work together. An $825 ceiling is not an automatic amount for each borrower; the 20% monthly-gross-income restriction can be more limiting.

Hypothetical example:20% of $2,000 monthly gross income is $400. A request above that income-based amount would not fit that restriction even though it remains below $825. This example does not establish how a lender will verify income or approve a real request.

Small-loan fee calculation

The brochure uses 15% on the first $250,13% on the portion above $250 through $400, and 10% on the portion above $400 through the stated ceiling. Do not apply 15% to the entire larger balance.

For an illustrative $300 advance, $250×15% is $37.50 and the remaining $50×13% is $6.50. The finance charge is $44 and the assumed repayment $344 before any separately lawful default charges. It is not a Fresh Hope price quote.

Consecutive loans and repayment plans

The DFI brochure explains an extended-payment-plan offer when the borrower enters a third, fourth or fifth consecutive small loan. It also describes a restriction on lender-funded renewals and refinancing with another small loan from that lender.

Keep the prior payoff and new agreement dates. If you are repeatedly borrowing immediately after repayment, ask about the plan before committing to another single payment. A series of individually small transactions can still keep essential income committed each payday.

Partial payments and receipts

The brochure describes partial payments before the due date without an added charge and signed, dated payment receipts. Use that record to reconcile the remaining balance and any debit scheduled from your account.

An existing payment authorization and a separate payment can otherwise be difficult to track. Request an updated amount due after paying part of the balance. If the numbers do not reconcile, preserve the receipt and contact DFI with the discrepancy.

Small loans and earned-wage apps

Indiana's official earned-wage-access guidance identifies a separate licensing framework for access to earned but unpaid income. It expressly distinguishes that activity from small loans. An app icon or cash-advance label does not tell you which protection applies.

Read the actual provider agreement and determine whether you are accessing earned wages, taking a loan, or using another account product. List subscription and expedited-delivery charges separately when comparing the overall cash cost.

Indiana lender checks and complaints

Indiana DFI's Consumer Credit Division provides the regulatory starting point, and the Department's complaint pages explain where different complaints belong. Search the actual lender name and retain the agreement, income calculation and payment history.

The posted brochure is evidence for this guide, not a statement that every figure was newly enacted in 2026. DFI's policy page notes the statutory renumbering. If a contract or directory uses an old code citation, check the current reference before assuming it describes a different product.

General borrowing checklist

Confirm availability in Indiana

Ask the lender whether the specific product is available at your address in Indiana. A general loan label or a state-guide page does not establish availability.

Fresh Hope Financial is a loan-request service. Submitting a request does not guarantee an offer, approval or funding.

Compare the complete borrowing cost

Read APR, fees, total repayment and every due date in any actual offer. Do not infer the cost from the name of a product or from a single payment.

Check the repayment arrangement

A payday loan often has one due date, while an installment loan has multiple scheduled payments. Cash advance is a broad label; ask which repayment arrangement the lender means.

Verify the lender’s identity

Identify the lender and check the authorization relevant to the product and your location. State requirements and permitted products can differ; verify the current position before accepting an offer.

Read the form before submitting

Review the consent and privacy information, check what information is requested and ask about credit inquiries and payment collection.

Consider alternatives to borrowing

A payment arrangement, a bank or credit-union option, or trusted personal or community help may be worth exploring. Check the costs and conditions of each option before deciding.

Questions about borrowing in Indiana

Can every borrower request $825?

No. DFI's posted guidance also uses an income restriction, and an actual lender still decides eligibility. Fresh Hope availability is unverified.

What is the illustrative charge on $300?

Using the posted tiered schedule gives $44: $37.50 on the first $250 and $6.50 on the next $50. That is a hypothetical statutory-fee calculation, not an offer.

Why keep dates for earlier loans?

Indiana's consecutive-loan rules can trigger a payment-plan offer. Prior agreement and payoff dates help identify the sequence.

Is an earned-wage-access app a small-loan lender?

Not automatically. Indiana's official guidance treats earned-wage-access licensing as a separate activity.

Was the entire small-loan rule newly enacted in 2026?

This guide does not claim that. It uses currently posted DFI material and separately notes the Department's July 2026 code-reference reorganization.

Does this page confirm that a loan is available in Indiana?

No. Ask the lender about the exact product and your address. This guide explains questions to check; it does not confirm product availability.

Where do I find the actual costs?

Read the amount, APR, fees, total repayment and payment schedule in the lender’s actual offer before deciding.
